Description
Just a reminder. Revised NERC Reliability Standard goes into effect on April 1, 2023. The revised Reliability Standard added the following two new Requirement:
- Requirement 7 requires all BES generating plants to implement a Cold Weather Plan (CWP) by April 1, 2023. The CWP must include Freeze Protection Measures (FPM) that if implemented correctly should prevent a generator from tripping during an extreme cold weather event.
- Requirement 8 requires that all plant maintenance and operations personnel that are responsible for implement the CWP must be trained annually on the plan.
MPC Evaluation
MPC is currently drafting and helping with the implementation of many generating plants CWP and also developing the training for Requirement 8.
